What happens to your email accounts or blogs when you die??? A modern day problem…..
In recent years social networking and media and online accounts have grown in popularity and its now far more common for someone to have a profile or information stored on the internet. Many of us now have more than one email account, online bank accounts or profiles on Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin. Within these or separately, you can also have websites or blogs that can have a commercial value. A computer gaming profile can also have a trading value. What happens to all these accounts though if you die? It’s not just password details or access, but their mere existence that can have a value. The Data Protection Act which companies often quote as a reason to not release information is only relevant whilst someone is alive. So how do you make provision for these assets or how do they get dealt with?
